Texas Brownies

These cake-like brownies are from Michelle's friend Kathy Whalen.


2  cups flour
1  cup water
2  cups sugar
1/2  cup buttermilk
1/2  tsp. salt
2  eggs
1  cup margarine
1  tsp. vanilla
1/4  cup cocoa
1  tsp. baking soda

FROSTING:
1/4  cup cocoa
1/2 cup margarine
1  tsp. vanilla
5 Tbsp. buttermilk
1 box powered sugar


Mix in a large bowl flour, sugar and salt; set aside. Boil and stir margarine, cocoa and water. Pour hot mixture into dry mixture. Stir well and add buttermilk, eggs, vanilla and soda. Pour into a large greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 20 minutes. For frosting combine margarine, buttermilk and cocoa. Bring to boil. Add vanilla and powdered sugar; blend
well. Spread on warm brownies right out of the oven.
