Snickerdoodles

These all-time classic cookies are great hot out of the oven with a glass of milk.


1  cup shortening, part butter
1  tsp. soda
1-1/2  cup sugar
1/4  tsp. salt
2  eggs
2  tsp. cinnamon
2-3/4  cup flour
2  Tbsp. sugar
2  tsp. cream of tartar



Cream together shortening, sugar and eggs. Stir in flour, cream of tartar, soda and salt. Roll into balls the size of walnuts. Roll in mixture of 2 tsp. cinnamon and 2 Tbsp. sugar. Bake at 400 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes. Bake till light brown but still soft.
