Custard Icing

We use this rich icing from Cora to fill the yule logs at our Christmas parties.  


1  cup milk
1/2  cup butter
1/2  cup sugar
1/2  cup crisco
2  Tbsp. cornstarch
1  tsp. vanilla


Combine milk and sugar in a saucepan. Heat and thicken with cornstarch. Cool. Beat with mixer and add butter, crisco and vanilla. Beat until it is the consistency of whipped cream. For variation substitute 1 pkg. any flavor pudding (regular not instant) for the sugar and cornstarch.
