Bread Pudding

An old fashioned favorite of Dad's.


2 cups dry bread cubes
4  cups milk, scalded
3/4  cup sugar
1  Tbsp. butter
1/4  tsp. salt
1/8  tsp. nutmeg
1/2  tsp. cinnamon
1/4  tsp. ginger
4  eggs, lightly beaten
2  tsp. vanilla extract
1/4  cup raisins


Soak bread in milk 5 minutes. Add sugar, butter, salt, nutmeg, cinnamon and ginger. Pour slowly over eggs. Add vanilla and raisins; mix well. Pour into buttered 1 1/2-qt. casserole or baking dish. Bake in pan of hot water at 350 degrees for 1 hour or until knife comes out clean when inserted in center. Serves 8 to 10.
