Apple Pie
Mom's apple pie is best made with tart, firm and juicy apples.
9" pie:
3/4 to 1 cup sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon or nutmeg
6-7 cups sliced apples
1-1/2 Tbsp. butter
10" pie:
1 to 1-1/4 cups sugar
1-1/4 tsp. cinnamon or nutmeg
8-9 cups sliced apples
2 T bsp. butter
Mix sugar and cinnamon. Stir lightly with apples. Heap into pastry lined pie pan. Dot with butter. Cover with top crust which has slits cut in it. Seal and flute. Bake at 425 degrees for 50 to 60 minutes. until crust is nicely browned and apples are cooked through.
